Science Behind a Crime: 5 Scientific Principles Used in Criminology

important to take the time necessary to make sure that a solid process of analysis and discovery is being employed.  If this is not the case then someone could find them self in a situation to where they are going to experience some rather difficult obstacles in their path.

The first principle that needs to be exercised during the practice of criminology is the theory.  Just like any other science, theory is where all great conclusions start. There needs to be some of idea of what is happening or what is going to happen before the rest of the investigation can continue.  The right theory will set the foundation for the next step of evaluating a situation as it relates to criminology, which is the hypothesis.

The hypothesis allows for some postulation with regard to what is happening and how to address it, keeping things basic and looking at all of the options is what forming a hypothesis is all about.
Once there is some idea of what is occurring and how to go about addressing it there is the need to form a realistic approach or operation to address the issue.  It must have an approach that is going to not only be cost effective but also employ all of the best ideas available for addressing the issue in question.

Taking the construct of the hypothesis, if the hypothesis rings true to the theory, is an effective treatment in applying it to a small group of people or events. In this case: a crime. The construct apparatus tells the investigator if the additional fact gathering continues to support the Hypothesis in the criminal investigation.

Once the experiment is over data can be drawn from it to extrapolate what the effectiveness might be in future instances.  Factoring in the similarity between the future instance and the circumstances of where the experiment took place will increase the likelihood of success.  Analyzing the data given from multiple experiments will then shed some light on what is the most effective course of action by way of statistical probability, and such endeavors are aided by criminology masters programs for advanced employees.

Once everything is pulled together and analyzed it is time to create a comprehensive and easy to understand report for those who need the information.  Those who are going to receive the conclusions drawn from experimentation and data gathering will often have no interest in raw data, they just want to know the point of what was done and the motivation for it.  Aside from these things it is also vital that the recipient of any report be made aware of the potential applications of the outcomes that were drawn from the experiment(s) which were ultimately proven true.
