Department

The DFM team is part of the Blades Technology Design Development department. We are tasked with providing engineering expertise during the development of new wind turbine blade designs and technologies. The team have responsibility for making sure that the design delivers on quality, lowest cost and ease of manufacture. We also have responsibility to ensure that design intent is carried through correctly into full scale production. We support our colleagues in the production environment as necessary, helping to feed ‘real world’ knowledge and improvements back into existing and future blade designs.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The successful candidate will be involved directly in new blade development projects. With knowledge of what a particular design decision may mean for other parts of the Vestas value chain, the DFM engineer will be able to influence the early design to achieve the optimum configuration for high quality, low cost and ease of manufacture.

The DFM engineer will then take overall responsibility for supporting prototype and pedigree series production from a design perspective, ensuring that design intent is carried through properly, fine-tuning the design as necessary.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a technical and practical role, focussed on the ongoing development and deployment of best practice techniques.

Vestas provides excellent career development paths for individuals wishing to pursue technical excellence and the opportunity exists for the successful candidate to become a specialist in their chosen field.
